It’s been nine years since Odell Beckham Jr.’s catch of the year over Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr. On April 9, 2023, OBJ announced that he was signing a deal to play for the Baltimore Ravens. The one-year deal worth up to $18 million is the Ravens’ latest olive branch peace offering to entice quarterback Lamar Jackson to negotiate.
Odell Beckham Jr. was selected 12th in the 2014 NFL draft by the Giants. He won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014 and amassed 35 touchdowns and 4,122 receiving yards in his first three seasons.
Since then the former LSU wide receiver has racked up 531 receptions, 7,637 receiving yds, and 56 touchdowns (1 rushing, 2 passing, 53 receiving). OBJ has caught 53 touchdown passes, rushed for one, and thrown two during his career while playing for the Giants, Browns, and Rams.
Odell Beckham Jr. was an electrifying playmaker for the Rams in their 2021 season that ended in a Super Bowl victory over the Bengals. Beckham Jr. made his first Super Bowl appearance but was sidelined in the second quarter due to an ACL injury. The Rams went on to win 23-20 and OBJ tallied two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl LVI. Following the 2021 season, Odell Beckham Jr. was not re-signed by the Rams and remained a free agent for the entire season.
On April 9, 2023, Odell Beckham Jr. announced that he was signing a deal to play for the Baltimore Ravens. The one-year deal worth up to $18 million shows how the Ravens are trying to mend the rift between the team and Quarterback Lamar Jackson. The 2019 NFL MVP announced last month that he had officially requested a trade from the Ravens several days before the team non-exclusively franchise-tagged him.
